Teaser trailer for Ant-Man.
Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
Ant-Man was originally supposed to focus on Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man. However, in the comics, Pym has multiple personalities, including one who abused his girlfriend, and producers decided it was too family un-friendly so they focused on Pym's successor, Scott Lang, and had Pym serve as mentor.
Paul Rudd underwent a rigorous exercise regime to get fit and gain muscle. He did so well that the Ant-Man suit had to be altered to account for his bulk.
Edgar Wright insisted that Marvel were not to use Ant-Man or Wasp until he had completed the movie, which is why neither character appeared in The Avengers.
Michael Douglas said he took the role of Hank Pym for the sake of his children, because they thought it made him cool.
Marvel continue to dominate the comic-book film genre, consistently producing top quality movies that keep everyone on the edge of their seats. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a complex and detailed network, one which has take a lot of thorough planning and creativity to make it work, and it's paid off.
Now another 2 characters enter the foray. Ant-Man and the Wasp, both popular Marvel Comics characters, are now introduced and though this movie focuses primarily on Ant-Man, with a hefty dose of the Wasp, it also paves the way for them to appear in multiple Marvel films going forward. Ant-Man is already confirmed to appear in Captain America: Civil War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp team up for a joint movie in 2018.
With this in mind, the trailer here does a good job of setting everything up. It's just a teaser, but it makes us want to know what's to come. The idea of someone shrinking yet increasing in strength is intriguing, and Michael Douglas looks to be the perfect choice to serve as mentor Hank Pym.
Of course, Paul Rudd's background is in comedy, and when his casting was announced many were skeptical. However, Marvel have incorporated plenty of humor into Ant-Man and it's resulted in a really enjoyable film which is a surprising delight.
