While it is a franchise much like James Bond that many people feared for in 2015, the title Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation ensured that the Tom Cruise series would continue as it won over the majority of critics and box office moviegoers all in one swoop. To heighten anticipation for Mission: Impossible 6, Man of Steel star Henry Cavill will be taking part in the extravaganza.
Rather than go through the usual process of being linked with the part and having agents negotiate behind closed doors to secure his services, the 33-year old Englishman agreed to terms over Instagram of all places. Opening up discussions across various posts with director Christopher McQuarrie, the pair went back and forth before Cavill simply replied, "I'm in!"
Cavill: If I Can Fly, Then Count Me In On MI6
Outlining how the picture will go to extreme lengths to push the boundaries on the action scenes, McQuarrie put the ball firmly in Cavill's court. This is the transcript from their very public conversation:
"McQuarrie: Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you're interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.
Cavill: How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair.....
McQuarrie: @henrycavill excellent. Just a few caveats: must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good?
Cavill: @christophermcquarrie only if I get to fly for real
McQuarrie: @henrycavill I do believe I specified practical stunts. You in?
Cavill: Oh ok.....I'm in!"
HC Once Again Teases Green Lantern Cameo In Justice League
Recovering from a knee injury that has hampered his involvement in the upcoming DC installment Justice League, Cavill has insinuated that Green Lantern will be part of the blockbuster. Posting on Instagram (where else?), he remarked that he has to be up to a certain level of fitness to take on the green superhero in the stunt stakes - a tease that he has made before.
"Since I came off the ol knee injury I've been steadily increasing my training work load. I know it's irritating when people say this but it genuinely does feel so good to be back in it. I'm not destroying myself every day. Just working towards improvement by pushing hard enough to elicit change. Nothing funny to post here, it's deadly serious because I've got to make sure that I'm bigger than Green Lantern....Wait whaaat?"
