The Rock Teases Fast and Furious Spinoff With Jason Statham

$908.3m is a number that is impressive under any gauge. The Fate of the Furious continues to speed past records at the global box office. As the hyped up rollercoaster ride on wheels squeezes every cent out moviegoers. But if you believe the fun is starting to wind down, then think again.

Two stars who have come late to the party are Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. With the duo famously locking horns in a prison cell for the 8th installment. Using his Instagram account to acknowledge the achievement of the studio and crew, The Rock has teased a potential spinoff that would center around the conflict between Luke Hobbs (Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Statham).

Clearly enjoying the banter off set as much as the action on it, The Rock knows that the pair are two of the biggest drawcards in the series and as such, he is angling for a fight for the ages.

"A very very special shout out to a certain bald headed, English tea drinkin', crumpets eatin', God Save The Queen singin' suuuuuum bitch, Jason Statham," Johnson posted. "One fine day, we will give the audience what they want and fight. And it will be the greatest fight in the history of movies. We will then drink like brothers as you nurse your wounds, because I'm gonna knock your teeth so far down your throat, you're gonna have to stick a toothbrush up your ass to brush 'em. Thanks for trusting me brotha and cheers to always having fun for audience."

With Johnson showing off his knowledge for cinematic history, the actor praised those for putting The Fate of the Furious in elite company. Joining the likes of Avatar, Titanic, The Avengers, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and more, the movie continues to rise up the rankings.

"The #1 movie in the world, two weeks in a row. The first Hollywood movie was shot in 1910. Since then, only 29 movies have ever grossed over $1b at the box office. #FateOfTheFurious will be the 30th movie to cross that mark."

Emerging as an unknown quantity at the turn of the century from his WWE days, Johnson left special mention for Universal who saw in him a leading man in the making.

"Huge shout to our dynamite and ever growing cast, our incredibly hard working and patient production crew, Universal Pictures - Jeff Shell, Donna Langley and my favorite Rabbi and consigliere, Ron Meyer. Huge Rock size bear hugs to Universal's relentless and brilliant marketing and publicity team. Many of whom I've known since I started my career at Universal 17 yrs ago with The Mummy Returns. A pleasure to work with all the above."
