Trailer for Disney's live action Beauty and the Beast.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
Eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken will return to the film. He won two Academy Awards (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast. Menken will provide the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.
Filming for the live action portion of the film was completed back on August 27, 2015. But the film will not hit theaters until March 17, 2017 (a year and seven months later)! There is a lot of CG that had to be finalized which is why the process takes so long.
Ryan Gosling was offered the role of the Beast, but turned it down to appear in La La Land (2016) instead. Coincidentally, Emma Watson turned down the lead female role in La La Land due to scheduling conflicts with this movie.
Just about everybody has seen the original animated Beauty and the Beast film and most likely fell in love with it. They loved the music and message behind the beautiful love story, your love for someone is not based on how they look on the outside but what is on the inside.
We already have a Teaser Trailer which is definitely just a tease. All we got was the sound of characters talking and no glimpse at what they would actually look like. Over the past few weeks we got a few glimpses at how they would look with some production shots and a poster, but this trailer gives our first real look at what they will really look like on screen. I am very impressed with what they did with the Beast, he looks amazing and so real. I must say that Emma Watson as Belle would not be my first choice. I think she is an amazing actress but based on looks alone she is not a good fit. I also do not like Luke Evans as Gaston. When I think of Gaston I think of a very large muscular man, and Luke is not that. Chris Hemsworth's body with Evans' acting would be a better fit.
I have no doubt this film will crush the box office. When you hear the music in the trailer, you immediately start to get excited...it falls into many people's top Disney film category. I am glad to finally get to see all of the main characters. The film looks gorgeous.
