When a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) experiences a deep personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, his colleagues devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a surprising and profoundly human way.

Even though this film is jam packed with well known actors/actresses. There were several who were originally on board but dropped out. Rooney Mara,  Rachel McAdams and Hugh Jackman were all attached but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. 

Even the original Director attached to the film dropped out. Director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon exited the project over creative differences with the studio.

The movie cast includes two oscar winners: Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren. Three oscar nominees: Will Smith, Edward Norton, and Keira Knightley.

Going for the Gold (gold statue that is). This film has Oscar bait all over it. An intense drama filled with 2 Oscar winners and 3 Oscar nominees which happens to hit theaters right before the end of the year in December. And it looks to be a lock for at least a nomination.

Plus we get quite a unique story which the older people of Hollywood love. You get the feeling that Will Smith wanted to return to drama and go after that illustrious Best Actor win he narrowly missed when he was nominated back on 2007 for The Pursuit of Happyness.

I think this film looks great, the cinematography looks great, the acting looks great, the writing looks great...I am excited to see some real film making this December when Collateral Beauty hit theaters!
