Red Band Trailer for Green Room.
A young punk rock band find themselves trapped in a secluded venue after stumbling upon a horrific act of violence.
Though we're not sure if it's a coincidence, but Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots seem to have a fetish for one another when it comes to horror films. Though this is only their second collaboration, the duo's only other project was the 2011 horror, Fright Night, which also starred Colin Farrell.
Green Room has already had a festival run including a screening at Cannes Film Festival. While critics agreed that the film is a superb addition to the horror slash thriller genre, especially with its level of ultraviolence, it's been mentioned on a few occasions that the film runs out of steam by the time the credits roll. Even with that complaint, and the theatrical release still looming, expect Green Room to be "Certified Fresh" by RottenTomatoes.
Where Green Room excels is that it does a terrific job of showcasing brutality, drawing audiences emotionally in while also ensuring that they are uncomfortable. Because of this, it makes sense that A24 figured the best way to preview the film was with an R-rated [red band] trailer.
Everything stated by the critical acclaim showcased in the trailer seems to match the footage, confirming that the film is full of suspense and awe. To top it off, the preview makes it a point to reveal that Patrick Stewart is playing the leader of these skinheads, and is just as ruthless, if not more-so, than the men underneath him. Though we get to see very little of Stewart as the character Darcy Banker, there is enough in the trailer to have us loving the fact that he landed this out-of-character role; maybe he thought he was becoming typecast. Though we would like to think that it's Patrick who steals the scenes, the early feedback is that it is Imogen Poots who really shines.
