Trailer for Hidden Figures.
Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
The film reunites Octavia Spencer and Kevin Costner, who previously appeared together in Black or White (2014).
Director Theodore Melfi returns to the Director chair after taking a break for over 2 years. His last film was St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Chris O'Dowd & Naomi Watts.
The film is based on the Margot Lee Shetterly book of the same name, "Hidden Figures".
It is still amazing to me that there are so many incredible untold true stories out there. And this story about Katherine Johnson is a prime example. It takes a team to pull off any new feat and usually there is a few people at the forefront that get all the glory, but there are many many people behind the scenes that are just as important, if not more. Not only was Katherine this important puzzle piece but she had to battle both gender and race stereotypes.
So, you not only get this inspiring heartfelt story line, but you get an amazing cast who all look to bring their A-game. I love the extra long trailer which I feel does not show too much. I look forward to watching this film when it hits theaters!
