Trailer for Lion.
Five year old Saroo gets lost on a train which takes him thousands of Kilometers across India, away from home and family. Saroo must learn to survive alone in Kolkata, before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination, and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home.
Based on Saroo Bierleys novel "A Long Way Home", which is based on a true story. The film was originally set to feature the same title as the book of which it is based but later decided to go with Lion as the title.
Lion will mark Garth Davis' debut as director of a feature film.
Nicole Kidman and David Wenham previously co-starred in Australia (2008), in which they portrayed each other's nemesis. In this they portray each other's spouse.
Another film based on an incredible true story. I love seeing films like this because it shows Hollywood that there are still many unique stories out there and they do nto have to keep resorting to making remakes and sequels.
The acting and cinematography in this film look great. Dev Patel has developed into quite to good actor since his debut in Slumdog Millionaire. I like to see him try to carry a film in the lead role and in such a dramatic role.
I can see this film being mentioned around when Oscar nominations are released. It has the real life underdog scenario coupled with what looks like great film making and acting. I am looking forward to seeing this film when it comes out.
