Trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Captain Jack Sparrow is pursued by an old rival, Armando Salazar, who along with his crew of ghost pirates has escaped from the Devil's Triangle, and is determined to kill every pirate at sea. Jack seeks the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that grants its possessor total control over the seas, in order to defeat Salazar.
The Director for the film is Joachim Rønning who's previous works include:
Kon-Tiki
Max Manus: Man of War
Bandidas
This will be Writer Jeff Nathanson's first time working on a Pirates of the Caribbean film. But he has plenty experience as a writer for feature films:
The Lion King (announced)
Tower Heist
New York, I Love You
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Rush Hour 3
The Last Shot
The Terminal
Catch Me If You Can
Rush Hour 2
Speed 2: Cruise Control
For Better or Worse
Hard to believe that this is the first actual trailer we have seen for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and the film comes out in just a few months. We have just had the Teaser Trailer and an Extended TV Spot shown during the Super Bowl. Not that Disney really needs to promote this film anyways, but it is great to finally get a full look at the film...and Disney did not disappoint.
This trailer showed off plenty of new footage. We get a much better look at all the characters, the ships and the quirky comedy that people love about Jack Sparrow. The trailer also does a great job at setting up the backstory for the film and how Captain Salazar is seeking out revenge on Jack (who always seems to have more enemies than friends).
It still amazes me that Disney was able to make 5 films in this franchise. I think the secret to its success is Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow who is perfect and keeps the comedic edge to this unique character and having some great villains. Javier Bardem looks amazing in this installment and he could be the best villain yet for the franchise. I always say that I am not going to see another Pirates of the Caribbean film, but then Disney releases trailers like this and I get sucked right back in.
