Trailer for Slash.
Neil (Michael Johnston), a 15-year-old high school outcast, is uninterested in traditional teenage activities. He prefers to spend his free time writing "slash fiction," a form of homoerotic fan fiction following the adventures of his favorite sci-fi character, Vanguard. When Neil meets fellow slash writer Julia (Hannah Marks), she leads him down a rabbit hole into the strange world of “18 and over” internet forums, making a “name” for himself and his unique tales. Can Neil handle the pressures of school, his parents, his newfound fame, and his feelings for Julia—all before he’s old enough to drive? Clay Liford (Wuss, “My Mom Smokes Weed”) expands on his crowd-pleasing short film (“Slash,”) and creates a hysterical feature full of both wildly inappropriate humor and unexpected poignancy. Featuring brilliant supporting turns from Michael Ian Black, Missi Pyle, Angela Kinsey, and Robert Longstreet, Slash is a funny, touching, and—most of all—unique coming-of-age saga.
