Racing star Lightning McQueen teams up with his best friend Mater for an international adventure as they go up against the world's fastest cars.

After Paul Newman passed away in 2008, his character, Doc Hudson, didn't appear in Cars 2, instead it's implied that he died.

The Pizza Planet truck from Toy Story appears in every Pixar film in some form, and Cars 2 is no exception. In fact, it appears twice; as a guest on the Tire Talk TV show and as a spectator during the last race.

Finn McMissile's license plate is 314-FNMC, 3/14 being Michael Caine's birthday, who provides the voice of Finn.

Cars 2 is the first John Lasseter film not to have a score written by Randy Newman.

Cars 2 is, happily, one of those sequels that is even better than its predecessor. After the events of Cars, Lightning McQueen heads to the World Grand Prix, with races taking place in London, Tokyo, and Porto Corsa.

The ever faithful Mater is right by Lightning's side throughout, only he becomes embroiled in a spy scandal that threatens to bring down the whole Grand Prix. Of course, Lightning is so busy with his racing that he might not have time for his friend, and Mater is so trusting that he's entirely unaware of what's going on before it's almost too late...

Cars was a good movie; enjoyable for young kids and definitely appealing to boys. Cars 2 just ramps it all up a notch and really gives Pixar a chance to create an amazing universe with great cars based on different races from around the world.

The trailer also really highlights the quality of the animation. For some reason, even though Mater is a truck, you cant help but feel for the guy, and to animate vehicles in such a way that they can elicit emotion from an audience is an incredibly smart thing to be able to do. The trailer also accurately depicts the atmosphere of such a huge sporting event, and it just makes you want to be there!

Cars 2, in my opinion, is more appealing to all of the family rather than just the very young, and it's a really great watch.
