Friends With Benefits Red Band Trailer (2011)

Red band trailer for Friends With Benefits.

A young female headhunter (Mila Kunis) in New York convinces a potential recruit (Justin Timberlake) to leave his job in San Francisco behind and accept a job in the big apple. Despite an attraction to each other, both realize they're everything they've been running from in a relationship and decide to become friends... with benefits. It's the perfect arrangement--until they realize there's no such thing as no strings attached.

Mila Kunis used a butt double for her nude scene, despite appearing partially nude in many other scenes.

Woody Harrelson is shown dunking a basketball in a nod to his film, White Men Can't Jump.

Bryce, the male lead in the fictional romantic comedy shown throughout the movie, is played by Jason Segel in an uncreditied role. He also played Mila Kunis' love interest in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and as Justin Timberlake's love rival in Bad Teacher.

Dylan makes fun of the song, "Hey Soul Sister" when it plays at the end of a movie he and Jamie watch together. The same song plays at the end of Friends With Benefits.

Can you really have no-strings sex with your friend? Does such a thing as Friends with Benefits exist? Well, Dylan and Jamie are keen to find out. Both single, and both in need of sex, they decide that sleeping together is the way to go, provided their relationship stays as just friends.

Let's face it, we all know where this plot is going, don't we? Both Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis are aesthetically pleasing, to say the least. You're hardly going to turn down an offer from either of them and in just the same way, you're not going to be thrilled if they then want to go off and date someone else, are you?

It's nice to see the addition of Woody Harrelson to the cast, and Jamie's mother was also pretty hilarious ("Slam away!"), but that's about where it ends for me. Having learned the hard way that friends with benefits very rarely works, this is a trailer that makes me want to yell at my screen, because both parties are being entirely stupid.

I'm sure this movie is enjoyable enough, and one of those films that's easy to watch when your brain doesn't feel like working too hard. Timberlake and Kunis are both decent actors, which helps, but the trailer doesn't really fill me with much enthusiasm.
