Jack Morrison (Phoenix), a firemen, begins to wonder if his choice to be a fireman was the right one. His mentor, Captain Mike Kennedy (John Travolta) tries to talk him through this. Jack ends up getting trapped in a fire and can Captain Mike save him in time.
