Four cattlemen band together in the last days of the Wild West to protect a small province from a villainous land baron. Writer-director-producer Kevin Costner co-stars with Robert Duvall as two of the veteran cowboys. Annette Bening plays the nurse who catches Costner's eye, and Michael Gambon is the rancher determined to create and preside over a lawless state.
