Tampopo Head and the Name of the Dogs Trailer (2011)
Trailer for the short film Tampopo Head and the Name of the Dogs. The experimental narrative film Tampopo Head and the Name of the Dogs explores human relationships as a central subject, alongside exploring the philosophical permutations of human-canine relationships and human identity. It's derived from the director, Toshie Takeuchi's personal interest in the lives of her acquaintances Ed, a quiet philosophy lover, and Hilko who lives with six female dogs. Hilko walks his dogs with wearing a red helmet on. In his house, there is no logical border between a man and his dogs. The initial inspiration of the fairytale-like narrative came from an event that left Takeuchi with an indescribable feeling: Hilko named one of his two puppies 'Toshie' after her, and Ed named the other after his own daughter.
