Trailer for A Wrinkle in Time, starring Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling.
After the disappearance of her scientist father, three peculiar beings send Meg, her brother, and her friend to space in order to find him.
Not that Disney needs any more major franchises, but A Wrinkle in Time could spawn an additional four films depending on how closely the studio wants to stick to the material. And, seeing that readers on Amazon seem to love the entire Quintet, the expectation is high.
And how did Disney come up with the idea to adapt this particular fantastical series. Well, after seeing their Alice in Wonderland adaptation make a boatload of money at the box office, though the film wasn't exactly all that good, another adaptation seemed like a surefire (monetary) bet.
It's hard to tell what the target audience is for A Wrinkle in Time, but my assumption is it will be a favorite for young teens hoping to experience the closest thing to an acid trip. That, and it's sort of neat seeing some of your favorite adult actors covered in makeup. At least, save for Chris Pine.
Visually, there is a lot going on here. So definitely will be seeing this film in 3D if I happen to make it a point for a theatrical viewing. In regards to the story, it's still a bit tough to understand what's going on. With a March release, however, Disney still has plenty of time to work on promoting the plot.
