Trailer for Vinyl.
After a booze-fuelled post-funeral jam session, Johnny and his old band-mates come up with a gem of a pop punk single. The problem is that no one is interested in re-signing a bunch of washed-up, has-been rockers. But Johnny's not one to quit easily. And he has a plan _"? a hoax that will reveal the sham that the music industry has become. Johnny and his band-mates assemble a talent-less bunch of teenagers to be the face of their new single. It's a hit_"_ and the kids become stars. Interviews, a record deal and a spot in the Top Ten follow. The band is the hottest property in the UK and they have a charis"_matic leader, Drainpipe, who is destined to become rock royalty. His mother was a pretty dedicated groupie back in the day and suddenly it seems that Johnny has a little more than he is ready for. Namely a son. And a pregnant wife. And then there's the mutinous band-mate, Minto, who decides to steal some of the glory for himself and blow the whistle on the entire hoax. Vinyl is good old-fashioned fun about living life all the way through, and is one of the few films from The Lounge to travel up valley.
